LONDON MARARTHON PARKRUN WEEKEND ROUND UP 23/24 APRIL

On the weekend of the 36th London Marathon there was 24 Scottish teenagers chosen to represent Scotland in the London Mini Marathon from clubs like Forres, Banchory Stonehaven, Perth Strathtay, Inverclyde, Corstorphine and Falkirk among those as well five from Giffnock North and three from Kilbarchan AAC.
Our own Junior Harriers were committed to their training and taking part in Parkruns.  We had 3 Juniors out testing there progress against other young club athletes and maybe one day they to could be chosen to represent Scotland in the Mini Marathon.

Victoria Park Junior Parkrun #73 (2k) - 17/04/16
127 runners in the field today.

11th, Ruby Byrne, 9:10, 21st junior parkrun

12th, Ava Byrne, 9:18, 21st junior parkrun

Well done to Ava & Ruby for achieving their Green wristbands. This is junior parkruns award scheme that recognises key milestones based on the number of junior parkruns completed. The Green wristband is a reward to both girls completing 21 runs or 42k and is the same distance as a marathon.  The next key milestone is an Orange wristband which is for 50 runs which is 100k the same as a ultra marathon.

Here is a note of the bands that will be awarded to those who reach the following junior parkrun club milestones:

Blue: half marathon (11runs or 22k – yes, a little over the 21k half marathon!)
Green: marathon (21 runs or 42k)
Orange: ultra marathon (50runs – a MASSIVE 100k!)

Victoria Park Parkrun #123 (5k) - 16/04/16

330 runners took part in parkrun at Victoria Park.

83rd, Lewis Moir, 22:19, 9th 5k parkrun, course best and 5 second shy of his Pb set at Strathclyde Parkrun in October 2015.

After this performance Lewis is sitting 12th out 88 runners in top performances for all JM10 athletes at Victoria parkrun, Glasgow

GRANGEMOUTH 2K

On Sunday 10th April Falkirk Victoria Harriers hosted their 50th Round The Houses 10k and Junior 2k Fun Run.

We had one official junior running which was Lewis Moir and his older sister Ashleigh joined him in the event and she has only been training for a few weeks.
 
There was 170 junior runners taking part in this event.  Lewis completed the distance in 8:33, achieving overall position of 29th and 2nd in the 9 years old age category.  Ashleigh finished 44th place in a time of 9:27 and 3rd in 14 yrs age category.

It was a real family event as Lewis's Mum Lynsey was running her first 10k and his Grandpa, Stuart Waugh, who is in the Senior section of Calderglen Harriers was competing.  Lynsey's time was 50:33 and Stuart was 44:21.
