TRAIL RACES 2014

Blink quickly and there goes another successful Trail Race evening.  Plenty of young athletes from our Junior Section, some now experienced Trail runners and some first timers all putting in some fine mature performances after weeks of hard work and effort in training. If you don’t believe check your results from previous years on the website.
Thanks again to Coach John Mullen and his able assistance Alistair Crawford to be on warm up duties for the 1k Harrier runners.
Again all our athletes looked great wearing their Harrier vest or yellow t-shirts amongst the many other club colours
For the second year in a row it was great that all the parents worked together to put on tremendous buffet for all the 1k & 3k runners. So a big thanks to all Parents, Coaches and my wife Sarah for organising the junior buffet.  It was well received by all 1k & 3k runners.
As I was on registration & kitchen duties I never saw all the races.  However what I did see the Harriers were coming through thick and fast all showing great grit and determination to run their best...fantastic!  See the list of award overhaul below.
Another excellent night and I felt proud to be a Coach and Junior Coordinator of this section.  Well done to all the young athletes who took part in Friday's races and if you didn't, come and join the party in 2015!

QUEENS BATON RELAY EVENT

I would just like to echo Russell's report on the senior blog (http://calderglen.blogspot.co.uk/)  Many thanks to everyone that came along on Sunday for the Queens Baton Relay. If sure you would all agree it was a wonderful day with many hundreds of kids leaving with smiling faces. The above photo was taken by Jill Jackson on her phone and there is a few more photos supplied by other people on the senior blog.

I apologise to anyone about the Harrier photo with the Baton.  The timing & co-ordination was out of my hands.   It was a bit rushed at the end but I think everyone is in somewhere.

QUEENS BATON RELAY EVENT - SUNDAY 22 JUNE

As most of you already know the Queens Baton will be in Calderglen Park this coming Sunday.

As part of the celebrations the Harriers will be putting on some events from 11am to 3pm including Mini Athletics.
There will also be a photo opportunity during the Baton's visit to the park. The estimated time of arrival for Queen's Baton is at 12.30pm.

So as it is the Harriers 30th anniversary this year we thought we would take advantage of this photo opportunity and try to get picture of the whole club, juniors and seniors with the baton.  Our event will be located at the picnic tables next to Torrance House where we will have a club tent.

So can all Junior Harriers who come up please have your Yellow Harrier T-shirt or Harrier vest and black shorts with you.

We need as many Harriers which includes athletes, parents, volunteers to be there to help with the small events we are putting on and to get as many into the photo.

Parking will be in Colonsay field otherwise you won't get out the park till late afternoon. What we need is as many Harriers to turn up as early as possible but before 11am.

TRAIL RACE SUPPORT 2014

Our Trail race is only 3 weeks away on Friday 27th June so as club we need............

Trail Race Entries
All the juniors who want to do the race get an entry form on training night, fill it in, hand it in and you get to do the race for FREE.  There is official individual race prizes, age group and Team prizes.  Also the junior section have their own additional prizes to celebrate Harrier success in the event.

Buffet @ Trail Race
Last year for the first time we had junior buffet for all the runners who did the 1k & 3k and due to the support from parents & coaches with donations of sandwiches, cakes, sweets etc it was a great success.  So we want to continue this for the 2014 Trail Race.  Can you let Sarah know what food donation you are planning to bring to ensure we have enough for the all the kids.

Trail Race Volunteers
The Trail Race Director Russell Couper is looking for volunteers to help on the day.  If you are free please go the senior blog through this link http://calderglen.blogspot.co.uk/ and see how to add your name on the list in the article entitled Trail Race Volunteers.

Thank you for your time,
Richard
