WEST DISTRICT RELAY REPORT

The first cross country of the season we were greeted with sunny weather at Hamilton Park Racecourse. Its been 45 years since this venue was last used so it was new to us all and I must say its long overdue for its return.

We had 1 Young male team out with 2 new runners competing for the first time as Calderglen Harriers.  The first leg was under 13 new kid on the block Calum MacDonald who did the 2.5k route in a respectable 10.43.  Then big brother Lewis was our under 15 who took over with grit and enthusiasm however his lap didn't end well.  Lewis was struggling over the line with a recurring injury in 13.05.  The final honours for the last lap went to Craig Stewart now an under 17 training with the seniors.  Despite being one of the last runners to go he did his lap in 10.16 and managed to pull back a few places.

A big well done to the Harrier trio for racing for the club.  This is excellent experience for all 3 runners and good for their development as cross country runners.  They have all put a time down for the start of the season to test their early form and it is now up to them to attend all their training to keep being consistent as the season progresses.

Next race is the Lanarkshire AAA Road Relay on Saturday 19th October.  Only 2 people in the club have told me they want to race......where are the competitive runners? I need to know by Wednesday 16th October at training.
