WED 28 JAN SESSION CANCELLED

Sorry for the short notice but after much delibration with John Mullen (Coach) we have decided to cancel the session.  With heavy snow forecast during our training times we have to think of the safety of the athletes and the parents bringing them and picking up at 8pm.

It has been a nightmare for Junior Harriers this month for training due to the weather so let's hope February is a better month for us all to train.

This has been emailed to all members however please also spread the word.

Thank you
Richard

EAST KILBRIDE AC OPEN CROSS COUNTRY 2015

A small and late mention that on Sunday 18th January was the 2nd East Kilbride Athletics Club Open Cross Country event.  As last year the course was at O'Cathian  Farm in Jackton.  Unfortunately due to the wintry weather there was a lower turnout however Calderglen Harriers had junior and senior athletes out competing.

The 3 junior athletes out this year were Lewis Moir, Lucy Bennett and Cameron Green.  First race up was the under 11s, girls and boys, who both ran a 1k distance.  Lucy was the only girl Harrier taking part in the field of 24 runners crossing the line in 4:33 and this was after the night before she was performing in her dance show.  So well done Lucy.

Next up in a field of 30 runners was the under 11 boys with Cameron Green being the first Harrier home in 3:44 in 14th place followed by Lewis Moir who is not officially quite in the under 11 age group did a respectable 3:56 in 23rd place.

So well done to all 3 athletes that took on this challenge and I am glad to see young Harriers out competing its all part of training to be better runners.

If you are entering I would prefer athletes to wear the Calderglen Harrier running vest.  They can be bought for £12 but I do have a selection of small vests that would suit most under 11s and small older athletes. Please ask me for one at training on Wednesday.

Regards,
Richard
