West District Cross Championships - 07/12/19

Ben Buchanan was the solo junior Harrier in this event. In a strong field of 59 runners Ben achieved a time of 15.52 which looking at the report from the seniors event in this championship was a real XC cross and challenged all runners.

Hopefully we will get some team mates for you in the New Year Ben for the National XC Champs in Falkirk on Saturday 22nd February

CHRISTMAS FUN RUN 2019

On Sunday 15th December Calderglen Harriers will be holding their annual Senior and Junior Christmas Fun Run in Calderglen Country Park.  Junior event will start at 10am.  So now is the time to get thinking of a costume which is optional.

Juniors Xmas squad 2017
All pre-entered junior runners for Christmas Fun Run will receive a free special edition Calderglen Harriers t-shirt. So in order for this to happen I would like cooperation from athletes and parents in terms of your availability to take part and runner t-shirt size.

To do this, we need to submit the order to our clothing supplier in plenty time so we need to have entries for the race, along with the athletes t-shirt size, by Wednesday 27th November at the latest. (T-shirt sizes are age  9/11, 12/13, small adult, medium adult, large adult).  Entries can be notified by e-mail, facebook junior page (if a member) or at training.

Following on from previous years, the Junior section will be doing a Relay race.  Each team will cover 3 laps with prizes for the winning team.  However all is not lost, everyone will get a treat at the end and for those of you wishing to participate, we will have a Secret Santa.  Participation in the Secret Santa is not compulsory but those who bring something will get to pick a present.  Presents should be to the value of around £5 and be suitable for anyone and wrapped.  We will do the lucky dip after the race.

Race Details

Junior Harriers (Relay Team)
Starts at 10am (arrive for 9.30am) Each runner does 1 lap (0.8 miles / 1.3k per lap), which is 2.4 miles or 3.8k

Senior Harriers (Indiviudal race)
Starts at 11am, Run 5 laps (0.8 miles / 1.3k per lap), which is 4 miles or 6.4k

Hopefully some of the older junior runners that are in Mark's training group will consider doing the 5 laps and challenge the "old" seniors.  In order to do this race I need your best 5k time for this year so you can be time handicapped i.e. slowest runners start first with the fastest last. The idea we all finish at same time....well we try.

If any young athlete wants to do the senior fun run then please let Richard know. If junior wants to both then no problem your choice.
