Steven & Lewis
On Sunday 11th June, Lothian Running Club held their annual trail race festival at Dechmont Law which is a hill in Livingston, West Lothian and its the highest hill in the area boasting views of Arthur's Seat and the Pentland Hills.
They had a range of trail races for all age groups and abilties from 10k, 3.5k and 2k fun run.  Today we had 4 athletes from the Junior Endurance section running in both trail race events. First up was Lewis Moir and Steven Cooper in the 2k trail race. This event had 41 runners of mixed age, gender and ability. Lewis won the event in swift time of 9.15 followed by Steven in 9.46 finishing in 4th overall.
Max in action
Next was teenagers Ashleigh Moir and Max Jones who were contending the trails over a 3.5k distance. In a field of 18 runners, Max was first Harrier home in 14.50 finishing just outside top ten in 11th with Ashleigh finishing her race in 17.12 in 15th place and 2nd in her age group.
Well done to all 4 Harriers and good preparation for our club 3k race on Friday 30th June.

Our Trail race is Friday 30th June, less than only 3 weeks to go, so as a club we need your support............
Trail Race Entries
All the juniors who want to do the race can get an entry form on training night, fill it in, hand it in and you get to do the race for FREE.  There is official individual race prizes, age group and Team prizes.  Also the junior section have their own additional prizes to celebrate Harrier success in the event. Closing date for FREE entry is Wednesday 28th June at training.
Junior Buffet @ Trail Race
Since 2013 we have put on a junior buffet for all the runners who do the 1k & 3k and due to the support from parents & coaches over the last 4 years supplying donations of sandwiches, cakes, sweets etc it has been a great success.  So we want to continue this tradition for the 2017 Trail Race.  Can you let Sarah know what food donation you are planning to bring to ensure we have enough for the all the kids.
Trail Race Volunteers
The Trail Race Director Russell Couper is looking for volunteers to help on the day.  If you are free please go the senior blog through this link and see how to add your name on the list in the article entitled Trail Race Roles.

Thank you for your time,

Victoria Park 5k Parkrun #181 - 03/06/17

Fantastic to see the results with junior and senior Harriers at the same event. Excellent way to unite the club and show to the running community we have good runners of all ages.  The seniors had their final chance to to run this event for crucial points in the Grand Prix and the juniors ran another supported club parkrun under the watchful eye of Coach Mark Saez.
14 Harriers ran Saturday's parkrun event and 6 of these were made of from the ranks of the Junior Endurance section.  Kai Wheeler and Lucy Saez both smashed their 5k times to bits.  Kai was 6th Harrier home and 1st junior in 21.33 and Lucy was 4th junior in 25.36. Freya Kane and Patrick Saez both got 7 second Pbs. Newcomer to the club Ashleigh Moir achieved her first Pb over 5k.
Great to see so many from the Junior Endurance section taking advantage of this initiative that we started and benefits can clearly be seen.
Keep it going everyone we are going in the right direction.  Really proud and chuffed.

A shout out to Steven Cooper and Max Jones who made the journey at the weekend, Sunday 28th May,  to Dunblane 2k road race.
This is an annual spectacular running event in celebration of Dunblane’s sporting achievements and part of the Dunblane Road Race which incorporates the Youth 2km race for young athletes aged nine to fifteen followed by an adults 12km race.
In a field of 86 runners both runners did really well.  Max Jones was the first Harrier home in 6:51 finishing in 29th overall and Steven Cooper finished the race in 7:10 in 38th position.
Well done to both and finishing in the top 50% of the race.
