TRAINING IS ON.....WED 21st OCTOBER

Training is back on as normal 6.30pm to 8pm for all training groups.

With the evenings being darker and the clocks going back an hour next weekend, can all athletes wear appropiate warm and bright clothing.  It is better to have layers that can be taken off and put back on rather than being too cold or warm.

WEEKEND ROUND UP 3/4 OCTOBER PART 2 - GREAT SCOTTISH RUN SPECIAL

This weekend all eyes were on Glasgow hosting the annual Great Scottish Run over Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October.  The junior events were on Saturday with the senior events being on Sunday.

The junior events were the Family Mile and for kids aged 9 to 11 and 12 to 15 they had 2.5k road races.  Even though I wasn't there myself I have been kept up to date by parents and facebook on junior Calderglen Harrier performances. So thank you for this.

First up was Brodie McAneny who took part in the Family Mile and she came third in her wave with a time of 7.15 and got rewarded with a trophy for her great run.

Keeping it in the family Holly McAneny was next with club mate Lucy Saez.  They both ran in the Wave 1 Girls 12-15 race.  Holly's time was 11.45 mins placing 32nd and Lucy was 13.04 mins placing 74th.  In the boys Wave 1 race for 12-15, Lucy's brother Patrick did well covering the 2.5k distance in 11.35 mins placing 71st.

In the Wave 2 Girls 9-11 race we had 3 Harriers running.  First home to make it a hat trick for the McAnenys' was Cara who finished in 33rd position with a time of 13.04 mins followed by the Byrne sisters.  Ruby was just ahead finishing in 13.18 mins and Ava hot on her heels in 13.20 mins. Talk about keeping it in the family.

In the Wave 2 Boys 9-11 race the pace was heating up with Cameron Green, Lewis Moir and Aiden Howell all bidding for glory against the the field of runners.  Cameron ran a terrific race with a top ten finish in 6th place in 10.41 mins only 7 seconds behind 3rd placed Central AC runner.  Next home was Parkrun regular Lewis Moir with a fine run at 12mins on the nose placing 56th and 3rd Harrier home to complete the trio was budding actor Aiden Howell in 13.18 mins placing 126th.

L to R: Lucy, Patrick, Cameron, Aiden & Lewis
