TRAIL RACE SUPPORT 2016

Our Trail race is this Friday 24th June, only 2 days to go, so as a club we need your support............

Trail Race Entries
All the juniors who want to do the race can get an entry form on training night, fill it in, hand it in and you get to do the race for FREE.  There is official individual race prizes, age group and Team prizes.  Also the junior section have their own additional prizes to celebrate Harrier success in the event.

Junior Buffet @ Trail Race
Since 2013 we have put on a junior buffet for all the runners who do the 1k & 3k and due to the support from parents & coaches over the last 3 years supplying donations of sandwiches, cakes, sweets etc it has been a great success.  So we want to continue this tradition for the 2016 Trail Race.  Can you let Sarah know what food donation you are planning to bring to ensure we have enough for the all the kids.

Trail Race Volunteers
The Trail Race Director Russell Couper is looking for volunteers to help on the day.  If you are free please go the senior blog through this link
http://calderglen.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/trail-race-roles.html and see how to add your name on the list in the article entitled Trail Race Roles.

Thank you for your time,
Richard

PARKRUN WEEKEND ROUND UP 18 /19 JUNE

Victoria Park Junior Parkrun #82 (2k) - 19/06/16

4th, Lewis Moir, 7:49, 19th junior parkrun, new Pb by 17 seconds

10th, Ruby Byrne, 8:32, 29th junior parkrun

14th, Ava Byrne, 8:54, 29th junior parkrun

117 runners in the field.

Fantastic running from all 3. In deed 3 is a magic number! A massive 17 second Pb by Lewis. I did say to Lewis earlier in the year I would help him to get under 8 minutes and he smashed it. Well done Lewis.

Ava & Ruby, great performances both so close to Pbs and thats after both playing competitive football matches yesterday. Just think what you could achieve with fresher legs...the skys the limit.

DECHMONT LAW TRAIL RACE - 2k

Lothian Running Club held their annual trail race festival at Dechmont Law which is a hill in Livingston, West Lothian and its the highest hill in the Livingston area boasting views of Arthur's Seat and the Pentland Hills.

They had a range of trail races for all age groups and abilties from 10k, 3.5k and 2k fun run.

Junior Harrier Lewis Moir was today testing himself against his peers and good preparation for our club 3k race on Friday 24th June.

Lewis put in a fabulous shift throughout the race and was the race winner out of a field of 27 runners ranging from 3 to 50 yrs. The winning time was 9:20 and the 2nd and 3rd athletes were over 1 minute behind Lewis.

Lewis was modest as usual with his win which is really deserved as he is constantly working hard at his Harrier sessions which is helping him build good strength and endurance.

Well done Lewis. Brilliant.

Richard
