CLUB SUPPORTED PARKRUN - SAT 3RD JUNE

Its that time again were we undertake our monthly club supported 5k Parkrun for all athletes age 11 and upwards.  Anyone below this age needs to run with an adult which is Parkrun rules.

For newer members this club initiative is to get the athletes involved in more running events which will help further their training and develop experience running in a competitve environment and socialising as club out with training nights.

Critical Information

Your child will need to be registered before their first run.  
Only ever register with parkrun once. Don't forget to bring a printed copy of your barcode. If you forget it your son or daughter won't get a time.

Where & When

This Saturday 3rd June at Victoria Park, G14 9NW near Scotstoun in Glasgow.
 
The start time is 09:30 and the plan is to meet at the start line at 9am.
 
Club coach Mark Saez will be there to meet & greet Harriers at 9am. Lets promote the club! If you have a club vest, yellow training t-shirt or your Christmas Fun Run t-shirt from last year please wear it.
 
Remember due to this there will no Saturday training session at Calderglen.

Extra incentive, Juniors vs Seniors!

Some of the senior Harriers are running this parkrun event as part of the seniors Grand Prix internal competition. So if you fancy the challenge come along and get racing and training tips at the end from them.

WEEKEND ROUND UP 20 / 21 MAY

4 runners, 4 Pbs and a 1st & 2nd finish...this is excellent performance from all 4 runners. Consistent training, regular parkruns, good attitude and motivation to do well will always pay off. Well done Patrick, Lewis, Emma and Kai.

MONKLANDS ROAD RACES

On Sunday 14th May North Lanarkshire Council Leisure Trust, Clubsportnl, hosted their annual Half Marathon event which now includes the Drumpellier 5k road race and children’s events for all age groups from under 5 years old to Primary 7.

Today we had Kai Wheeler running the Primary 5 to 7 event which covered the distance of 1k on the road. Kai raced to the finish in a time of 3.54 and finishing in 7th place.

Well done Kai.

ROUKEN GLEN 10k

With our own club Trail race only 7 weeks away on Friday 30th June, another local club Giffnock North ACC are hosting their annual running festival.  This year they are only hosting a 10k running event.  In preparation for taking part in the Trail Race and looking to do an alternative run to a Parkrun or your first 10k then this is the event for you.

Thursday 8th June 2017 (Rouken Glen Park, Giffnock)

Giffnock North ACC Festival of Running

10k Run: For 15 years and over and must be 15 years old minimum on the day, all finishers will receive a Dri-Fit t-shirt on completion of the run and the cost of the run is £12, £2 discount for Scottish Athletic members. 
 
New Race start time at 7pm
  
 
**There is no entry on the night for 10k**

If anyone wishes to do this race then you will need to be responsible and enter yourself or get a parent to help you with this.

WEEKEND ROUND UP 6 / 7 MAY

12 Calderglen Harriers from the junior endurance section were representing the club over 3 parkrun events this weekend.  Fantastic spread of runners across the parkruns and good to see the depth of young athletes wanting improve their running through Parkrun events. A mixture of all ages from under 11 to under 17 and good performances from all. 
 
Next club supported parkrun event will move away from Pollok Park and likely to be at Victoria Park Glasgow on Saturday 3rd June .  So please note in diary and will confirm nearer the time.
 
Please keep this perfromance up everyone and now all roads lead to our club trail race on 30th June. Really proud of everyone. Go Harriers!

PARKRUN FOR UNDER 11s

Further to the blog report about the supported club Parkrun for age 11 plus, the Parkrun organisation also have junior parkrun events for children age 4 to 14 running a 2k distance.  Like the 5k event your child needs to be registered and the difference is your child can run without adult supervision.
