WEEKEND ROUND UP 29 / 30 OCTOBER

The inaugural junior Parkrun event started at Rouken Glen Park on Sunday 30th October at 0930. This event is for (4-14 year olds) only.

There was 199 runners in the field which is brilliant for a first time event focused on junior runners. More amazingly there was only 11 club runners in the field with 188 non club runners. Just shows you there is an appetite for kids to run and experience the sport for the first time. Long may it continue.

Great results from all Harriers. Patrick has set his benchmark high for next time, great effort from our girls and unofficial Harrier Ben Buchanan.

Rouken Glen Park Junior Parkrun #1 (2k) - 30/10/16

NEW JUNIOR PARKRUN

**Major news for all mini & junior Calderglen Harriers**

There is a new junior Parkrun event starting at Rouken Glen Park on Sunday 30th October at 0930. This event is for  (4-14 year olds) only.

The course is a 2 lap, anti clockwise course, which starts in front of the clock archway. It follows the broad path up and round to the left then passes the skatepark on the right, before turning left at the gateway and left again before the pavilion towards the centre of the park. There is then a right turn past the playpark and then left again back to the start point for the second lap. The second lap repeats the first but finishes before the start point on the path to the right, beside the large tree.

This is a great new weekly regular local event for all mini & junior Calderglen Harriers to do wither you are a beginner, experienced or fun runner. As Nike would say it "Just Do It".

GREAT SCOTTISH JUNIOR RUN

Harrier Junior Squad post race
It was a cold but sunny when we met up at George Square. We had a warm up around part of the 2.5k course and thanks to Stuart Waugh for helping out with this. The groups were split into two based on ages of 9 to 11 and 12 to 15. The runners were asked to go into relative pens depending on their age. Tension was high and there wss alot of jostling for position.  At one point the compare (Radio Scotland's own Bryan Burnett) had to restore order!!. The older group set of first and quickly followed by the younger ones. It only seemed a matter of minutes before the first runners started to come through. There was fine performances from the Harriers and the times were as follows:

Aidan Howell in action
Chris McCarron 10:24

Lewis Moir 11:05

Patrick Saez 11:08

Fergus Kane 11:43

Freya Kane 11:57

Ava Byrne 12:46

Aiden Howell 13:31

Francis Santangeli 13:40

Lucy Saez 13:54

Eve Lindsay 16:05

Anna Lindsay 16:05

Emma Hutton 16:07

It was a great day and hopefully we can build upon this.

Thanks Mark for the report.
